Abstract

This study explored the effects of specific reading strategies on sixth-grade students’ independent reading engagement. Students were taught a series of independent reading engagement strategies and asked to utilize and reflect on each strategy over the course of six weeks. Results of the study were mixed, with some students benefiting from reading engagement strategies while others did not.
