These are some of the stories of Southeast Asian refugees that came to Iowa under Governor Robert E. Ray's leadership in the early 1980s and as the years passed came to know Christ and the Christian community in and around Northwest Iowa. Schaap narrates the lives of nine Lao, Tai Dam, and Vietnamese people torn up by the festering war in Southeast Asia and reborn (in more ways than one) on the other side of the world.
