From the June 1979 issue of The Voice:
"The Voting Board... unanimously passed a revised statement of purpose for the college. Entitled The Educational Task of Dordt College, the document supplements the original statement of purpose [SOHE], written in 1968. The new statement discusses two issues not dealt with in the original: the relationship of theory and practice and the relationship of curricular and extracurricular activities. It develops a concept of "serviceable insight" which breaks through the vocational school vs. liberal arts dilemma."
